Crush comics.

Had halloumi for dinner tonight. Not only is it still THE GREATEST FOOD OF ALL TIME, it also reminded me of this drawing I did back in 2010. Oh, halloumi. I’ll never quit you.
The ladies of Shortcakes Improv. Really enjoyed coming up with their new branding for the upcoming Twin Cities Improv Festival.
Rope Bondage 101 - By Lucy Bellwood (for Oh Joy Sex Toy)
Eighteen THOUSAND notes? You guys must really like rope!
Please note, this is an edited version of the strip. If you’d like to read the entire thing, head over to the original Oh Joy, Sex Toy post.
Thanks for sharing, everyone!
Banner by Chicago’s own Jo Dery.
Convention alert! I’m spreading my wings and heading to Chicago this weekend for the Chicago Alternative Comics Expo. Come say hello! The show is FREE and open to the public Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm at Center on Halsted (3656 N Halsted). I’ll be with my best comics bro Sam Alden at Table 90, but I couldn’t stop there on this doofy map so I just threw in icons for most of the folks I’m excited to see on the floor. Find the whole gang here.
As always, I’ll have Baggywrinkles galore, copies of True Believer, a previous few Tales from the Fragment, buttons, ladies’ shirts, and watercolor birds! Oh, and the squeaky walrus. Of course.
Wild walrus photography by Kai Hayashi.
See you there, friends!
Meet two female veterans who were once stationed at the Guantánamo Bay Naval Base in the latest issue of Symbolia.
Composed of interviews by Sarah Mirk and illustrations by Lucy Bellwood, DECLASSIFIED pulls no punches and digs into the very real issues women in the armed forces face every day.

More Symbolia teaser material. The issue is out next Tuesday!
My favorite panel from “Above”, the story I just completed for the flagship issue of Cartozia Tales. WOOHOO COMICS!
A photographer friend of mine called in a favor yesterday, so I spent an hour cranking out this tablet prototype drawing for a pitch he’s putting together. Totally not my usual style/schtick, but it was a lot of fun to play with. Plus I got to practice my pen tooling skills!
{Disclaimer: What are tablet? How is made? I have no idea.}
Here’s a sneak peek of our next issue, which will be dropping next week! Mad props to the extraordinary Lucy Bellwood for our cover.
If you haven’t subscribed, do it now! Here’s how to get Symbolia: on iPad // via PDF // Kindle Editions.
I absolutely can’t wait for this issue to come out! Mark your calendars for June 11th.

Inked like a BEAST today. Three pages in eight hours. This was my favorite panel in spite of all the fiddly hair and stick nonsense.
(From my upcoming story in Cartozia Tales.)
Cranking away on my first story for Cartozia. Two pages down, two to go!
Did this little painting of some coatis reading comics for the VIP art book at VanCAF last weekend.
Since this is apparently the week that Just Won’t Stop, here’s another announcement!
I’ve been hard at work with a team of fantastic cartoonists over the past few months to bring you to the world of Cartozia. This map forms the basis of a new, all-ages fantasy series that will debut later this summer. The first issue features stories by Dylan Horrocks, Isaac Cates, Jen Vaughn, Sarah Becan (our incredible cartographer), and many others.
Check out the whole story on my blog, and be sure to investigate the Cartozia homepage for info about subscriptions, teasers, contributors, and more!
Had a very belated dinner with a very patient Kickstarter backer this evening. Drew a Gentleman Llama in his copy of True Believer to celebrate.
Our caterpillar turned into a butterfly while I wasn’t looking! She sat on my finger for a while as her wings dried, then flew off into the trees....
I do like me a man with giant caterpillar eyebrows, well done fellas.
May 16th, Cathlamet.
Our first stop after Astoria, Cathlamet. It was cute and tiny and apparently the bar in town was in some movie.
